What is the minimum cost to open a restaurant in Madrid?
A basic concept (bar, café) can start from 40,000-60,000 EUR with leasehold included. A casual restaurant requires 80,000-150,000 EUR. A premium concept, from 200,000 EUR. In all cases, include 6 months of working capital — the most expensive mistake is forgetting it.
Can I open a restaurant in Spain as a foreigner?
Yes. You need NIE, form a Spanish SL (minimum capital 3,000 EUR), obtain the corresponding licenses and comply with labor regulations if you hire staff. The complete process takes 2-4 months with professional advice.
What is the golden visa and can it be used to open a restaurant?
The golden visa is a residence permit by investment (minimum 500,000 EUR in real estate). It does not directly finance the restaurant, but allows you to legally reside in Spain, which facilitates daily business management. For smaller investments, the entrepreneur visa is more suitable.
